New podcast episode explores patients’ views on optimising immunotherapy in cancer
18 Jun 2024
The Unit’s Trial Talk podcast has released a new episode about the OPTIC study, featuring one of the Unit’s Clinical Fellows, Sophie Merrick.
OPTIC explores how people with cancer feel about taking part in optimisation immunotherapy clinical trials, which investigate ways of reducing the intensity of immunotherapy.
Optimising immunotherapy could be beneficial for patients’ quality of life. But these trials can be challenging to run, as patients may be concerned about the impact on their cancer.
In OPTIC, researchers collected the views of people with melanoma (a type of skin cancer) and kidney cancer to help shape immunotherapy optimisation research, including the MRC Clinical Trials Unit at UCL’s REFINE trial.
