Public focus group presentation by Professor Max Parmar

Professor Max Parmar (Head of Cancer Group of MRC CTU) presented a talk on medical research and development at a public focus group organised by Opinion Leader Research (OLR) on Thursday 10th January 2008.

The Association of British Pharmaceutical Industry commissioned OLR to run the public workshop which aims to produce a snapshot of the general public's health concerns, including how they feel medical research should be prioritised. Max Parmar, speaking as a CTU representative, explained the role of the MRC in health research and how clinical research is organised in the UK, and described some of the challenges relating to clinical trials. The results of the workshop and an accompanying omnibus survey will be available later in the year.
