CTU paper shortlisted for Paper of the Year

The main results paper from the DART study ‘Routine versus clinically driven laboratory monitoring of antiretroviral therapy in Africa (DART): a randomised non-inferiority trial,’ has been nominated for The Lancet Paper of the Year 2009.

The eight publications shortlisted have been nominated by readers of The Lancet, and are those judged most likely to change medical thinking, health research, or clinical practice. The findings of the DART trial were that a third more people could be successfully treated for HIV in Africa if expensive lab tests, routinely used for monitoring side effects, are abandoned.
